The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Edition Physical Release Set for January 26: Details

The latest-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will soon be available in physical copy form. On January 26, stores worldwide, including India, will stock box editions of the critically acclaimed RPG for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. CD Projekt Red recently released the long-awaited next-gen version (now, current-gen) of the game as a digital upgrade on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X in December. This update boasts enhanced visuals with ray-tracing support, a photo mode, faster load times on consoles, and the integration of various mods.

India is among the first countries, along with the US, the UK, France, and most of Europe, to receive physical copies of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s new-gen versions. Pre-orders for India are now live on GamesTheShop, priced at Rs. 2,999 for either platform. Jordan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon will only receive a PS5 release on January 26. Australia and New Zealand will receive their copies on January 27, while South American countries can expect theirs on January 31. Japan’s release is scheduled for February 9, but only the PS5 version will be available. The release date for Brazil is yet to be determined. For more information on availability, visit the official CD Projekt Red website.

The latest version of The Witcher 3 offers stunning visuals and quality-of-life improvements to appeal to a new generation of gamers. Both the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X versions have graphics settings that allow players to choose between a 60fps performance mode or a 30fps quality mode, with the latter prioritizing visual fidelity. However, ray tracing is not available for the Series S version. The edition also includes content inspired by Netflix’s The Witcher series, introducing a unique questline. Completing this questline rewards players with gear inspired by Henry Cavill’s portrayal in the show, as well as optional costumes for other main characters and Nilfgaardian soldiers. Additionally, the game features a highly customizable photo mode, similar to Cyberpunk 2077.

The character models have undergone significant improvements, and a new optional over-the-shoulder camera for Geralt, reminiscent of God of War (2018) and Batman: Arkham Knight, has been added. Map filters have been implemented to remove unnecessary question marks and icons, drawing inspiration from open-world titles like Elden Ring and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The reduced number of map markers creates a sense of awe and curiosity when exploring The Continent. Furthermore, the update now allows players to pause the game during cutscenes, a feature that was previously unavailable in the original release.

The next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. Physical (CD) editions will be available starting January 26 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
