X (Twitter) makes ad revenue sharing program available globally

Approximately two weeks after the launch of the ad revenue-sharing program by X, there is news of its expansion.

In early July, Twitter users shared screenshots of their earnings from the program, with some expecting payouts of nearly $50,000 CAD. However, it was noticed that a significant portion of the initial payouts were received by far-right influencers.

Now, the program has been made accessible globally to anyone who fulfills the criteria, including having a subscription to X Blue (previously known as Twitter Blue) or being a Verified Organization, having accumulated at least 15 million impressions on their posts within the last three months, and having a minimum of 500 followers.

X will only provide payouts for ads that appear in response to a user’s tweet, and it will only compensate verified users who have a blue checkmark and have paid for it.

The program was first announced by X-owner Elon Musk back in February.

This ad revenue-sharing program coincides with a crucial time for X’s advertising business. The platform has once again faced criticism for placing ads of popular brands alongside accounts operated by neo-Nazis. Additionally, X attempted to entice advertisers back to the platform by offering incentives, discounts, and even issuing threats. X has stated that it will remove verification from brands unless they have spent at least $1,000 USD (approximately $1,322.65 CAD) in the last 30 days or $6,000 USD (around $7,935.90 CAD) in the last 180 days.
