Facebook is continuously working over its application whether be its official Facebook App or it Messenger App. Recently, an official release of Facebook Messenger takes place with a fresh UI which looks great, but it only lacks the Dark Mode which is most common in the applications that are coming nowadays. But, the strange thing is that Facebook had already shown Dark Mode in its Messenger app a couple of months ago but they didn’t apply it in this update. But the actual fact is that the dark mode is hidden in the app itself.
So, today I’ll tell you the procedure which you can follow to enable this feature on your Facebook Messenger app. Thanks to VincentJoshuaET, who discovered this method which we are going to explain below. So, let’s jump over to the next section where you’ll get this method.
So, the first and the foremost requirement is a rooted Android Phone. For your knowledge, this method is not working on iPhones and non-rooted phones. So, all you need a rooted Android Smartphone. If you have a rooted phone then move ahead and follow the steps outlined below.
Step 1: Download the latest Beta version of Messenger App from this APKMirror link.
“Before you proceed to the next step, if you want this trick working for you, be sure to uninstall the previously added Facebook Messenger app and Install and Set up your account on Beta version of Messenger app.”
Step 2: Now Download and Install a Terminal application on your device, I will recommend you to Install Termux.
Step 3: Now open the Termux and type “su” and hit enter, actually this command is used to ask for superuser rights which you should grant to proceed further.
Step 4: Now after being a superuser, type am start -n “com.facebook.orca/com.facebook.abtest.gkprefs.GkSettingsListActivity” and again hit enter to proceed. You’ll see the screen appearing in the screenshot given below.
Step 5: Now tap on the “Search Gatekeepers” option and then type ‘dark’ and hit on OK. You’ll get some search results having either ‘Yes’ or ’No’ values. The only thing you have to do is to tap on every results with value ‘No’ to change the value to ‘Yes’. After making this change, you’re done. Now close the Termux application.
Step 6: Now open your Facebook Messenger app and click on your profile pic. After scrolling down a bit, you’ll see an option to enable dark mode. Enable it and enjoy the dark mode in your Facebook Messenger App.
“In case you didn’t get the option to enable dark mode, force close the app few times and restart it again. Hope you’ll get it.”
So, this is the complete procedure to enable the dark mode feature on Facebook Messenger app before its official release. Follow this procedure thoroughly and you’ll get a dark theme on your Messenger app. Since the Dark Mode is already built up in the Messenger app, hopes that Facebook will officially release it in the upcoming few weeks.
