The Method and Competitors of Neuralink, Elon Musk’s Brain Implant Technology

Neuralink, the brain implant company founded by Elon Musk, has obtained approval from the Food and Drug Administration to begin testing its device in humans. The “Link” device, which is implanted in the brain via an automated robot, is fitted with tiny, ultra-flexible electrodes which can “listen” to neural communication, according to neurophysiologist Cristin Welle. Developers hope the device could help ameliorate conditions such as paralysis, blindness and depression, and to enhance human abilities such as memory. Although it is one of a number of companies pursuing such technology, it has received greater publicity owing to its funding and Musk’s association with the firm.
