Sony Tests Cloud Streaming for ‘Supported’ PS5 Games; PlayStation Plus Unveils June Games

Sony has initiated cloud streaming testing for ‘supported PS5 games’, marking a significant development in the gaming industry. This exclusive feature will be accessible to PS Plus Premium/Deluxe members only, enabling them to stream select PS5 games directly without the need for downloading. Although the plan is still in its early stages, Sony has assured gamers of a wide selection of games to be made available. This news comes shortly after Sony’s announcement of Project Q, a handheld device that utilizes similar technology. Furthermore, Sony has unveiled a comprehensive list of 27 free games for PS Plus Extra and Deluxe subscribers this month.

Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), acknowledged the rising significance of mobility in gaming habits. As a result, cloud gaming is considered to be the driving force behind tapping into this trend. Ryan promises aggressive plans for cloud gaming, highlighting the company’s commitment to innovation. Sony previously explored cloud gaming through PlayStation Now, which has now been incorporated into the revised PS Plus. The unveiling of Project Q at the recent PlayStation Showcase event showcased its features, including an 8-inch 1080p screen, a button layout, and analogue sticks reminiscent of the popular PS5 DualSense controller. The device will facilitate game streaming from the PS5 console through Remote Play or Wi-Fi and is set to launch next year, providing context for the aforementioned cloud streaming development.

In addition to these advancements, Sony has released the complete list of titles that will be added to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium catalog this month. These games will be available for claiming on June 20. The highly anticipated AAA title, Far Cry 6, takes players to the fictional tropical island of Yara, where they must combat corruption and political turmoil. Rogue Legacy 2, known for its persistence in maintaining dead heirs (no permadeath), will also make its debut on PlayStation. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge invites players to relive their arcade memories as they engage in fierce brawls against the Foot Clan and Triceraton Warriors. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided presents a dystopian 2029 setting, where players assume the role of protagonist Adam Jensen and navigate a world that despises augmented humans. Killing Floor 2 immerses players in a continental Europe plagued by zombie-like creatures, while Inscryption combines the genres of roguelike deck-building, escape-room puzzles, and psychological horror.

For enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the announcement of new games, Sony deviated from its usual practice of listing games on the PlayStation Blog and instead shared the entire list via the PS UK Twitter account. These games will exclusively be available to PS Plus Extra and Deluxe members starting June 20. The PS Plus Classics catalog for June, exclusively accessible to PS Plus Deluxe/Premium members, features Killzone: Liberation (PSP), Worms (PS1), and Herc’s Adventure (PS1). Pricing for PlayStation Plus Deluxe subscription in India starts at Rs. 849 per month, while the Extra subscription begins at Rs. 749 per month.
