Purdue University has become the seventh member of the Chicago Quantum Exchange (CQE), aiming to contribute to the advancement of quantum information science and technology. The CQE, comprising leading academic and research institutions in the Midwest and more than 210 researchers serves as a collaborative platform to drive innovation in quantum computing, communication, and sensing. Purdue’s participation, facilitated through its Quantum Science and Engineering Institute (PQSEI), consolidates the efforts of over 60 faculty members across various disciplines. This collaboration intends to accelerate research and development in chip-scale quantum systems and foster interdisciplinary partnerships with industry and government. The expansion of the CQE reflects the region’s emergence as a hub for quantum innovation, supported by substantial federal and state investments. The designation of the Chicago region as an official U.S. Economic Development Administration Regional Innovation and Technology Hub further solidifies its position in driving the nation’s quantum economy.
