Release Date for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Announced by Venom Voice Actor

Marvel’s highly anticipated sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, is set to release in September, as confirmed by Tony Todd, the voice actor for Venom. Although this information wasn’t officially announced, hearing it from someone directly involved with the game is reassuring. Todd, known for his role in the “Candyman” series, responded to a fan’s excitement on Twitter, stating, “Looks like September! Massive publicity coming in August.”

The release of Spider-Man 2 in September will put it in direct competition with Bethesda’s upcoming space RPG, Starfield. It is worth noting that Starfield recently experienced a delay and is now scheduled for release on September 6. The post-credits scenes in both “Spider-Man” and “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” hinted at Venom’s emergence as the new antagonist, potentially inhabited by Harry Osborn. The character’s presence in the first game was limited to audio logs and calls.

While Venom’s voice actor, Scott Porter, will not be returning for Spider-Man 2, there is excitement surrounding the game’s improved graphics and facial modeling. The studio aims to achieve a more “photo real” look and has previously recast the actor for Peter Parker to create a youthful appearance. The game features the return of Yuri Lowenthal as Peter Parker and Nadji Jeter as Miles Morales, promising new suits, villains, and innovative dialogue technology that pushes the limits of the PS5 hardware.

The writers, Jamie Mayer, accidentally revealed the fall/autumn release window for Spider-Man 2 on their personal website before Sony’s official confirmation. The development team, including creative director Bryan Intihar and game director Ryan Smith, who worked on the original Spider-Man game, has returned for the sequel. Insomniac Games, the developer, is also working on a standalone Wolverine game, led by creative director Brian Horton and game director Cameron Christian, both of whom previously worked on Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Insomniac Games’ Spider-Men will also make an appearance in the upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse movie, although the extent of their involvement is not yet clear. Fans can expect Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to be released exclusively for the PS5 in September.
