Along with unveiling the trailer, Samuel Goldwyn Films has also announced the premiere date for “Bank of Dave” – August 25, just a couple of months away. The trailer introduces us to the ambitious real-life story of Dave Fishwick, portrayed by Rory Kinnear. Dave, a man with the means and potential clients, sets out to open a small bank in Lancashire. However, becoming part of the British elite is not easy, as no new bank licenses have been granted for over 150 years. Determined to challenge this status quo, Dave seeks the support of lawyers, doctors, and even rock legends to rally popular opinion.

Dave, Money, and Rock ‘n Roll

The involvement of rock legends in “Bank of Dave” is not just a story element. Real-life Dave partnered with Def Leppard to organize concerts and raise awareness among Burnley townsfolk, showcasing the family-oriented nature of his bank. The trailer also hints at the comedic tone of the movie, promising laughter at the absurd “rules” imposed by the elite.

Here’s the official synopsis of “Bank of Dave”:

Dave Fishwick (Rory Kinnear) sells vans in Burnley, Lancashire. Once the world’s most productive and profitable mill town, Burnley is now one of the most deprived and neglected towns in the UK. Dave, however, through a combination of hustle and hard work, has done well for himself – so well that in the wake of the last financial crisis he started lending money at reduced rates to his customers and local businesses. When some of those businesses start making money, they ask Dave to reinvest it for them. This gives Dave an idea. Why not set up a tiny local bank that uses local money to fund local enterprise? He will call it: The Bank of Dave. The elite, London based financial authorities, however, haven’t granted a new bank license for over 150 years, and they’re not keen to grant one to a van salesman from Burnley.
