Master Fortnite’s Kinetic Boomerang

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 has kicked off with a host of thrilling additions to Battle Royale, and the most commonly used novelty weapon is expected to be the Kinetic Boomerang. Unfortunately, if you were hoping the new weapon would double as a mobility device like the Kinetic Blade and Shockwave Hammer, you’re out of luck because it’s only for attacking your enemies.

Thankfully, the Kinetic Boomerang is easy to come by, as they drop from chests, and spawn as floor loot and dedicated boomerang stands can be found in the new jungle area. These stands are located in the temple ruins scattered throughout the region and they guarantee that boomerangs will spawn every game.

The Kinetic Boomerang is a simple concept, as you throw it and it inflicts damage to the first player or object it contacts. It causes 60 damage to other players and returns to the thrower, causing damage to anything it hits along the way back. With no cooldown as soon as it returns to the thrower’s hand, it can be thrown again. However, the further you throw it, the longer it takes to get back to you.

The Kinetic Boomerang has a second function, the secondary fire button that recalls the boomerang, which then sets off a small explosion before returning to the thrower. Although the explosion is a nice bonus, using the boomerang for precision-damaging over an area may not be effective.

The Kinetic Boomerang features dramatic magnetism ensuring that throwing the boomerang in the general area of the enemy is enough to hit them. This feature makes it a perfect weapon when under attack as it’s easy to use while on the run.

Mechanically, the Kinetic Boomerang functions in a similar way to using a throwable lightsaber, but it’s easier to aim due to its auto-aim sort of quality. It can be used to finish off a wounded enemy that’s scuttling away when all else seems to fail.

Although the Boomerang may not be a primary weapon for most situations due to the low damage output, it has a specific function that comes in handy when trying to finish off a fleeing opponent. It works excellently when used in tandem with a Havoc Pump Shotgun, particularly when headshots are used. Players can swap between the two weapons, but the switch-and-ready speed can be slow, but overall, it’s an effective combo with persistence.

With dense foliage being a feature in the new jungle areas of the map, the Kinetic Boomerang is a handy tool when checking out potential hiding spots. Since you can use the Boomerang as many times as you desire without the fear of losing it, practicing throwing it when everything seems too quiet in the jungle area isn’t a bad idea.

As we continue playing the game throughout the season, we’re likely to see new tactics being used with the Kinetic Boomerang, making for an exciting season for Fortnite players.
