According to CyberMedia Research (CMR), a market research firm, iPhone shipments in India witnessed a 68% YoY growth in the first half of 2023. This growth was primarily driven by the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 series.
The Best-Selling iPhones in India
CMR reports that the iPhone 13 series accounted for the majority of iPhone shipments in Q2 2023, capturing 52% of the market share in India. Following closely behind were the iPhone 14 series, constituting 45% of shipments, the iPhone 11 series (2%), and the iPhone 12 series (1%).
Prabhu Ram, Head of the Industry Intelligence Group at CyberMedia Research (CMR), stated, “Our research insights at CyberMedia Research (CMR) indicate strong growth momentum for Apple in India. In Q2 2023, Apple witnessed a robust increase in iPhone shipments, primarily due to the popularity of the iPhone 14 series and iPhone 13 series.”
Moderate Growth for iPads
Apple’s iPad also experienced an increase in shipments, with a 6% YoY growth in Q2 2023. The iPad 9 series had the highest market share in the quarter, accounting for 42% of shipments. It was followed by the iPad 10 series with a 22% share, the iPad Air series 2022 with an 18% share, and the iPad Pro series 2022 with a 16% share.
Ram added, “Additionally, the Apple iPad achieved a modest 6% year-over-year growth, driven by consumer needs for work, learning, and leisure on-the-go and at home. Our estimates indicate that Apple is well-positioned to capitalize on the market demand and maintain its positive momentum in India.”
CMR also predicts that iPhones could potentially capture 7% of the market share in India and iPads could reach 25% in the calendar year 2023.
