Fandoms can be a fickle bunch. From the passionate BTS fans to the critical Star Wars enthusiasts, there’s always a range of opinions about beloved content. While some accusations may be unfounded, there are instances where newer films, especially reboots of beloved franchises, deserve more criticism.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is a subject of debate when it comes to its quality. Some fans believe that lukewarm reactions to the movie are a result of fans wanting to punish Disney and Lucasfilm for their handling of the recent Star Wars sequels. These sequels were criticized for their inconsistency, derivative nature, and lack of planning in resolving plotlines. A Reddit user expressed their opinion on the connection between the two franchises.

However, it’s important to note that not all negative reactions to the new Indiana Jones film can be attributed to angry Star Wars fans. Other Redditors pointed out that claiming so would be a cop-out. Some commenters also noted that negative commentary may stem from right-wing individuals and those who oppose Disney’s inclusive stance towards LGBTQ+ representation.

Furthermore, many fans actually enjoyed the Star Wars sequels when they were released, with the exception of The Rise of Skywalker, which received immediate negative feedback. Therefore, the idea that negative reactions are solely due to a campaign by Star Wars fans is somewhat unrealistic.

Ultimately, opinions on films are subjective, and it’s not fair to attribute negative reactions to external forces. The middling reviews of the newest Indiana Jones film could be a result of various factors, such as it being a studio-driven reboot rather than a story driven by creative excitement.
