How to Migrate Data from iPhone to iPhone in iOS 12.4

This week, Apple has released the newest version of iOS 12 for iPhones and iPads with some new features and options. One of the most notable features of iOS 12.4 is the updated data migration feature that uses iPhone to iPhone data transfer instead of using iCloud.
Apple didn’t reveal much information about this data migration feature so we thought to help you understand how this iPhone to iPhone data migration works. Well, this feature still uses the same Quick Start process to migrate data that has been placed since iOS 11. So, let’s dig in to find out the actual process.
So, there is a total of two ways to migrate data from one device to another. Either you can migrate data wirelessly using local WiFi or you can prefer to go for the wired connection. That all depends on your choice. So, let’s take a look at each of them one by one.

How to Migrate Data using Local WiFi

As mentioned above, this feature still uses the Quick Start process. So, during this process make sure to keep both of your devices close to each other.
Step 1: When prompted, enter your Apple ID and tap on Continue.
Step 2: Wait for an animation to appear on your new iPhone, then scan that animation with your old iPhone using its Camera.
Step 3: Wait for a message that says Finish on the new iPhone.
Step 4: In case, If you can’t use your current iPhone camera, tap Authenticate Manually, then follow the steps that appear.
Step 5: When prompted, enter your current iPhone passcode on your new iPhone.
Step 6: Follow the instructions to set up Face ID or Touch ID on your new iPhone.
Step 7: Next, select Transfer from iPhone to begin the migration process.
Make sure to keep your devices close to each other for the faster and smoother migration process.

How to Migrate Data Using a Wired Connection

Migrating data using a wired connection needs some requirements to be fulfilled. You will need a Lightning-to-USB3 Camera Adapter and a Lightning-to-USB cable to connect both devices. Once you have both of these cables, plug the Lightning-to-USB3 Camera Adapter into your new iPhone and Lightning-to-USB cable on your old iPhone and connect them together. Make sure to tether both of your devices before you setup this connection.
Once both of these devices are connected to each other, you are ready to start the migration process. You have to follow the same process that we have discussed earlier.
The time taken for the migration depends upon some factors such as the connection type that you’re using, network conditions, and the amount of data being transferred. So, in this way, you can migrate all the data from your old iPhone to the new iPhone running on iOS 12.4.
