Honor 10 Lite Review: Worth Buying?

Honor which is a sub-brand of Huawei has launched its first flagship of 2019 in India. The company launches their new budget-friendly smartphone Honor 10 Lite which is power-packed with some amazing features. It is powered by Kirin 710 chipset with a waterdrop notch display. Although many of the brands have already launched their first lineup of 2019, this smartphone by Honor has gained everyone’s attention in the market and is on hot trends. So, is Honor 10 Lite can survive in this tough competition? Is this a Worth Buy? Let’s find out.

Design

Like most of the Honor Phones, Honor 10 Lite also comes with Glossy Back Panel. It comes in three different color variants including Sapphire Blue, Sky Blue, and Midnight Black. Apart from its back panel, this is the first ever smartphone from Honor having a Waterdrop Notch Display which is usually inspired by OnePlus 6T. This waterdrop notch aligns at the top-center of the screen where its Front-facing camera is placed.

The earpiece of Honor 10 Lite is placed just at the body frame to make this waterdrop notch small which enhances its look. The thing which we like the most is its thin bezels which give it an awesome look. Also, Honor has placed the sim-tray at the top of the frame next to the secondary microphone instead of on the sides. At the bottom, like its predecessors, you’ll find a micro-USB port, a 3.5mm earphone jack, primary microphone, and its Speaker. Apart from that, Honor 10 Lite comes with a dual-camera setup with a single LED flash and a circular Fingerprint Sensor at the back panel.

Specifications

The new Honor 10 Lite comes with a huge 6.21-Inch panel which has 19.5:9 aspect ratio with a Full HD resolution. However, Honor hasn’t mentioned the screen protection in Honor 10 Lite, so you have to take care of the screen to protect it from minor scratches. Apart from that, Honor 10 Lite has a beautiful Display which an amazing look.

In addition, Honor 10 Lite is powered by Kirin 710 SoC which is an octa-core processor with a clock speed of 2.2GHz. This chipset is based on 12nm architecture. Also, Honor 10 Lite comes with 4GB and 6GB variants with an Internal Storage of 64GB which is amazing at this price. Most of the phone at this range offers 32GB of Internal Storage but Honor is packed this phone with 64GB Storage on each variant which is really awesome.

Also, with a Hybrid dual-sim slot with a Micro USB card deck, you can expand the storage up to 512GB which is magnificent. Meanwhile, Honor 10 Lite supports dual 4G VoLTE and comes with Bluetooth 4.2 and other connectivity options including WiFi 802.11ac, Hotspot, GPS etc. Moreover, Honor 10 Lite runs on the latest Android Pie 9.0 with EMUI 9.0.1.

Performance, Camera and Battery Life

With a powerful Kirin 710 Chipset, Honor 10 Lite works smoothly. However, having Snapdragon 636 or 660 processor will be the best for that as they deliver extreme performance at this configuration like you find in Redmi Note 6 Pro and Mi A2. Also, the fingerprint sensor works a bit slower than its Face Recognization via Front-facing camera. Honor 10 Lite can run some heavy games like PUBG at medium setting with Balanced Graphics setting smoothly without any lag.

Talking about its battery life, Honor 10 Lite comes with 3400mAh which is somehow less than its tough competitor Redmi Note 6 Pro which has 4000mAh battery and is also available at this price range. Also, unlike Redmi Note 6 Pro, the Honor 10 Lite didn’t support fast charging and comes with a 10W charger which charges the phone slowly. So, this is one of the downsides of Honor 10 Lite.

Now coming back to the Camera, Honor 10 Lite has a dual-camera setup with 13-megapixels primary camera plus 2-megapixels depth sensor. Here also Honor 10 Lite is back in the race from its competitors Redmi Note 6 Pro and Mi A2 which has 12+5-megapixels and 12+20-megapixels setup respectively. So, it may not match the quality of these phones in terms of Rear Camera Quality.

However, it gives a tough competition in terms of Selfie Camera. It has 24-megapixels front-facing camera which lies in the notch. The company has set up both of its front-facing camera and Rear Camera with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for better results. Both of these cameras come with different modes including Night, Portrait, Panorama, Pro and Time-Lapse Mode. However, the quality of Portrait Mode is not up to the mark. Edge detection of Honor 10 Lite isn’t much accurate and sometimes the phone didn’t blur the backgrounds completely. As Far its Video Quality is concerned, You can make video recording at 1080p from both the primary as well as the selfie cameras.

Final Call

Honor 10 Lite is a good phone over a price range of Rs. 14,000 which is for 4GB variant. Also, the 6GB variant is launched at Rs. 17,999 which looks a bit high as there are many good alternatives at this 15-20K range. It has an amazing Design with a waterdrop notch is loaded with many amazing features which make it stand in this tough competition. However, it has some downsides too especially in the Camera. So, overall if you are looking for a good phone with an average camera quality, then you can go for it.
