Give this Controversial WoW Clone a Try

Amongst the variety of MMO games available, there are many that manage to compete with the likes of World of Warcraft. One such game is Tarisland, developed by Tencent, which drew attention from WoW fans due to its striking similarity to the renowned MMO. Despite the initial backlash, Tarisland is now set to spend some time in closed beta for testing, launching across Android, iOS, and PC.

World of Warcraft players and developers alike noted the similarities between Tarisland and WoW, with Dan ‘MrGM’ Carter tweeting out the game’s trailer with the caption “this new game from Tencent seems extremely familiar”. Regardless, Tarisland has announced its closed beta launch on June 27th for PC players globally and mobile players from certain regions including Brazil, Canada, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom.

The closed beta will allow players to choose from character classes such as Ranger, Paladin, Warrior, Mage, Priest, Bard, or Barbarian Fighter and explore maps like Ancash Canyon, SilverLit, and the Misty Forest. Each area comes with its own storylines and quests, making cross-progression enabled play possible for solo players as well as friends.

As with most MMOs, Tarisland also offers group-centered experiences like dungeons where understanding class dynamics when teaming up with companions is imperative. The closed beta will offer exclusive rewards to the first team of ten who defeat all four dungeon bosses. Tarisland developers have also affirmed that the game will not be pay-to-win.

Tarisland hopes to offer new experiences to the MMO crowd and stand out without associating itself too closely with WoW.
