Giovanni’s Charisma receives a Full Art, Special Illustration Rare, and standard Trainer Supporter in Pokémon TCG: Pokémon Card 151 in Japan.

Pokémon TCG Japan has unveiled details about the upcoming expansion set Pokémon Card 151, which is based on the original 151 Pokémon introduced in the Kanto region. This set stands out because it marks the return of Kadabra after 21 years of absence from the Pokémon TCG. Kadabra’s absence was due to a lawsuit filed by magician Uri Geller, who claimed that Kadabra’s design was inspired by his spoon-bending technique. However, three years ago, Geller withdrew the complaint and issued a public apology to Pokémon fans for the restrictions placed on the use of Kadabra due to the lawsuit. Apart from Kadabra, this expansion is unique because it follows the Pokédex order, unlike normal sets that prioritize organizing cards by type. The set will be released on June 16th in Japan, and there is currently no information about its release in English. It is speculated that this may be the first special set of the Scarlet & Violet era for English collectors, although there is currently no confirmation on how Pokémon Card 151 will be introduced in the United States. Let’s now explore Giovanni’s cards from this set.

In our previous update, we showcased the Full Art of Erika’s Invitation featuring the Celadon Gym Leader. Now, it’s time to introduce Giovanni, the Boss of Team Rocket and also the Viridian Gym Leader. Giovanni’s Charisma appears in three versions in this set: Full Art Trainer Supporter and a standard Trainer Supporter, both depicted above, as well as a Special Illustration Rare Trainer Supporter, which will be revealed in a future installment. The Full Art trainer card showcased above is illustrated by hncl, who made their debut in the Pokémon TCG with the Lucario VSTAR Special Illustration Rare SWSH Black Star Promo from the Crown Zenith Elite Trainer Boxes.

Japanese sets often provide early insights into what the English-language sets may include, so it’s worth keeping an eye on our coverage. Stay tuned for card previews from the Scarlet & Violet series, as well as updates on everything related to Pokémon TCG here at Bleeding Cool.
