DMRC Introduces New Online Application for Generating Mobile QR Tickets

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has unveiled a cutting-edge mobile app called ‘DMRC TRAVEL’ that enables passengers to effortlessly generate mobile QR tickets for traveling on its network. Dr. Vikas Kumar, the Managing Director of DMRC, officially launched the app at Metro Bhawan headquarters in the presence of senior officials.

With the ‘DMRC TRAVEL’ app, passengers now have the convenience of purchasing tickets directly from their smartphones, eliminating the need for ticket counters, vending machines, or waiting in long queues. This streamlined ticketing process saves valuable time during their commute.

The app offers a range of payment methods, including UPI, credit/debit cards, and digital wallets, providing users with flexibility and convenience when making transactions. Passengers can choose their preferred payment option and easily complete the transaction within the app itself.

Furthermore, the app incorporates other passenger-centric features such as a travel planner, fare calculator, station information, and smart card recharge. It also provides route information, including interchange stations, from the origin to the destination. Passengers can view their transaction history and rebook tickets for the same origin-destination and return journey.

Initially available for download on the Android platform, the ‘DMRC TRAVEL’ app will soon be accessible on iOS as well, ensuring users across various platforms can benefit from the convenience of mobile QR ticketing. Passengers are encouraged to download the app from their respective app stores and explore its features and advantages.

To enable this user-friendly, cashless, and swift ticketing experience, DMRC undertook a massive and technically challenging endeavor to upgrade its AFC Gates without disrupting passenger services. This upgrade, which involved installing QR code scanners, was carried out during night hours to minimize disruption, ensuring all gates remained functional when services resumed each day. Over 60 percent of AFC gates have already been upgraded, with the remaining gates set to be covered within the next 1-2 months.

Through the introduction of the ‘DMRC TRAVEL’ app, DMRC aims to enhance the overall commuting experience by providing a modern and user-friendly ticketing solution. This initiative reflects DMRC’s commitment to leveraging technology for the convenience and comfort of its valued passengers.

After a successful payment, the app generates a mobile QR ticket which can be presented at the AFC gate for entry and exit during the journey. The app also offers the option to view purchased tickets in the “view transaction” menu, allowing users to access and manage their tickets as needed.
