In an Instagram story, Jackman shared a picture of himself and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool from the upcoming film, accompanied by the teasing caption “Don’t blink.”
While I thought Jackman’s final appearance as Wolverine in 2017’s Logan was a perfect farewell to the character, I must admit that I am exceedingly excited to see the beloved mutant portrayed with comic book accuracy on the big screen. As someone whose X-Men headcanon is heavily influenced by the fantastic ’90s animated series, where Wolverine sported a similar outfit, this news is a dream come true.
Previously, Jackman’s iteration of the superhero never wore the yellow suit, and the “yellow spandex” was even mocked in 2000’s X-Men, where all the characters donned black leather. However, the yellow suit was briefly teased in 2013’s The Wolverine. After Logan seemingly wrapped up Jackman’s portrayal of the character without featuring the iconic suit, it appeared that we would never witness him in it. Therefore, this is a thrilling moment for fans. If only we could somehow alter Jackman’s height to match the shorter stature depicted in the comics.
Regardless, all of this has amplified my excitement for the release of Deadpool 3 on May 3, 2024. I simply cannot wait to see how the film brings these beloved characters to life.
