Working of the partnership
According to the agreement framework, BSNL will provide the spectrum using both PLMN and isolated allotment, while L&T will handle the private network requirements by deploying necessary equipment, apps, servers, technology, and software. L&T will also integrate devices/sensors within the customer’s ecosystem.
This partnership marks L&T’s entry into the 5G private network space, with LTTS assuming the role of a master system integrator for customers, offering a range of technologies, equipment, and use case buildout. BSNL will serve as the official network provider.
Prospects of 5G in the coming years
According to a report by IDC, the global private 5G market is expected to exceed $8 billion by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of 35.7% from 2022. In India, there is a growing need for enterprises to deploy Non-Public Networks (NPN) to benefit from faster connection speeds and lower latency. The adoption of Captive Non-Public Networks (CNPN) has also increased as enterprises focus on network modernization for enhanced security.
Enterprise 5G will unlock the full potential of Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and the Internet of Things across various industries such as healthcare, education, manufacturing, and smart cities.
