Google’s Chrome Password Manager has announced new security and convenience features that allow users to manage passwords more conveniently and prevent account hijacking attacks. Users can now transfer passwords from other password managers to Chrome by exporting a CSV file from the old tool and importing it. This feature is compatible with Edge, Safari, Bitwarden, Dashlane, and LastPass.
Chrome’s storage system now has a dedicated space accessed via the “Password Manager” option in the Chrome menu or by selecting “Manage passwords” when prompted to save a new credential. A new desktop shortcut is also available, offering greater ease of use. The landing page allows users to view saved information, manage settings, and select specific websites.
Google Password Manager for iOS users now has a larger pop-up for auto-filling passwords, and allows users to see all their accounts for a particular website in one place. The company is also enhancing security with new biometric authentication features for desktop users, enabling the requirement of a fingerprint or facial recognition before password auto-fill.
On iOS, Google Password Manager will alert users to reused and weak passwords through its “Password Checkup” tab, where users can also find compromised password alerts.
Another of the latest additions is the ability to add notes to saved login details, offering users the option to include additional information like security questions or pins that they need to remember.
All Chrome users have access to the new features, including the ability to manage passwords more securely and conveniently. These updates should enhance user experiences.
