Guide to Finding and Unlocking the Vault Locations in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3: Wilds has made its grand entrance, bringing in a plethora of exciting features, including the likes of raptors, Optimus Prime and ancient ruins that can now be explored in the battle royale. With the introduction of new ancient ruins areas on the island, players can now find vault doors, each hiding rare chests behind them. However, unlike previous vaults, which could be unlocked with a simple key, players now need to solve a puzzle to gain access to these vaults. Here’s a guide on where to find these new vaults and how to unlock each kind.

Fortnite Vault Locations

Since the addition of the new vaults, two types can now be found scattered across the island. The classic Wildcard Vaults, which have been around for several seasons, are marked by red circles on the map above. The blue circles, on the other hand, indicate the new puzzle vaults, for which solutions can be found below.

How to Unlock Fortnite Vaults in Chapter 4 Season 3

There are three types of vault doors that have been found around the island, each with its own unique puzzle solution.

The first vault door players may encounter is the sacrifice door. These vault doors are characterized by a glowing smoke emanating from them, which requests an item of high value. To unlock this vault door, players must give an item of either matching rarity or higher. The color of the smoke indicates the minimum item rarity required, with blue, purple, and orange smoke appearing depending on the vault door type. This means that players may need to drop in a Rare, Epic, or Legendary weapon or item to access the vaults.

The second type of vault door requires players to solve a statue puzzle. These are typically small standalone buildings, each with a vault door and two statues on the sides. Players must select the correct statue to open the vault door. Unfortunately, the door doesn’t provide any tips, and there doesn’t seem to be a reliable way to pick the correct statue. If the player selects the wrong statue, they will spawn into a rift that is located directly above the building. However, players can quickly float back down to the ground and activate the other statue.

The third type of door is slightly more complicated. These doors are related to purple flaming braziers found in the same room. Multiple flaming braziers can be found in the area, and players have the option to extinguish them. There is another room nearby that has the same type of brazier, but one of them will already be extinguished. Players’ primary goal is to extinguish the flame in the brazier that corresponds to the one that is already out in the other room. Once the flame has been put out, the vault door will automatically open.
