One winner learned the importance of checking a ticket before casting it aside, as she won $925,000.
A woman from Macomb County, Michigan, just north of Detroit, shared her story with Michigan Lottery Connect.
The 39-year-old woman, who remained anonymous, won the prize on a Super Lucky 7s Fast Cash ticket.
Fast Cash is a state game in Michigan.
The ticket came from a liquor store in Romeo, Michigan.
THE DOUBLE CHECK
“When we got home, I looked over the Fast Cash ticket and thought it was a non-winner,” she told the lottery.
Luckily, she decided to check again, opening the state’s lottery app.
“When the amount of $925,434 came up on the screen, I thought something was wrong with the scanner,” she said.
Looking over the ticket more closely, she confirmed her win.
“When I saw I really did win, I was mind-blown,” she said.
After winning, she visited the lottery headquarters to claim her prize.
Fast Cash jackpots increase with each ticket purchased, rising until somebody wins.
Super Lucky 7s tickets in Michigan are $10.
The game can be played immediately, instead of by waiting for a drawing, like with Powerball or Mega Millions.
