The upcoming release of the highly anticipated Pokémon TCG set, Ruler of the Black Flame, has unveiled its full set of cards, excluding Secret Rares, ahead of its launch.

We are thrilled to bring you more details and exciting card reveals from the upcoming Scarlet & Violet era of the Pokémon TCG. Japan’s release of Ruler of the Black Flame, featuring the iconic Charizard, is scheduled for July 28th, and it will consist of 108 cards, excluding the Secret Rares. This expansion sets itself apart by introducing Tera Pokémon with a unique typing that differs from their standard typings. This is most evident in the Dark-type Tera Charizard ex, but it also applies to the Fire-type Tera Eiscue ex and the Electric-type Tera Tyranitar ex. It has been confirmed that Ruler of the Black Flame will contribute to the English-language Pokémon TCG set for August 2023, known as Scarlet & Violet – Obsidian Flames. Additionally, it is expected that Ruler of the Black Flame will combine with cards from the upcoming Japanese ex Starter Decks and remnants from other Japanese sets released this year. Today, we will specifically examine the Pidgey line featured in this set.

In a previous article, we revealed cards from Ruler of the Black Flame showcasing Pidgey, Pidgeotto, and Pidgeot, with the highlight being a Special Illustration Rare ex version of Pidgeot. These cards represent the standard versions of the Pidgey evolutionary line from the set, as now all the cards from the set have been unveiled by Pokémon TCG Japan, excluding the Secret Rares. Notable artists include Naoyo Kimura, who brings us a beautifully serene Pidgey in a picturesque forest, Kariya, who presents a regally perched Pidgeotto, and takuyoa, who showcases the first-ever Flying-type Pokémon, Pidgeot ex, swooping in for an attack.

Japanese sets often provide insights into what the English-language sets may feature, so stay tuned for our coverage. For previews of Scarlet & Violet cards and updates on everything Pokémon TCG, visit Bleeding Cool.
