Netflix’s Top 10 Chart Topped by Season 3 of ‘The Witcher’ and ‘The Out-Laws’

Season 3 of “The Witcher” continues to captivate viewers in its second week since the June 29 premiere. According to Netflix, this popular fantasy series has once again claimed the top spot on its Top 10 English-language TV charts for the second consecutive week. With a remarkable 13.8 million views (equivalent to 66.5 million hours viewed), the show dominated the week of July 3. In second place, Season 2 of “Lincoln Lawyer” garnered an impressive 7.4 million views, despite only having three days to secure its position after the July 6 premiere.

Although “The Witcher” maintains its firm hold on the top spot, its viewership numbers for Season 3 seem to be declining compared to previous seasons. There are several possible reasons for this. Season 3 had a stronger premiere week, previously accumulating 15.2 million views. It even dethroned Season 6 of “Black Mirror” as the most-viewed English-language TV title for the week of June 26 – July 2. However, Season 6 of “Black Mirror” now sits at 5th place, with 60.4 million hours viewed and 11.6 million views, losing its crown to “The Witcher” Season 3.

One possible explanation for the decline in viewership could be the unique structure of Season 3. For the first time, the show is divided into two parts, with Volume 2 set to conclude Henry Cavill’s final appearance as Geralt of Rivia on July 27. This change in format may deter viewers who prefer to wait for the entire season to be available. However, it’s important to note that “The Witcher” remains popular. The Season 3 premiere prompted both loyal fans and newcomers to revisit previous seasons, resulting in Seasons 1 and 2 of “The Witcher” claiming spots in Netflix’s Top 10 TV Charts at numbers 6 and 7, respectively, with 2.6 million and 2.4 million views.

In the realm of English-language films, “Extraction 2” relinquished its top position for the first time to a new contender, “The Out-Laws.” This bank heist film, featuring a star-studded cast including Adam Devine, Nina Dobrev, Ellen Barkin, and Pierce Brosnan, secured the coveted number-one spot with an impressive 19.6 million views. However, the Chris Hemsworth-led action thriller remains strong in second place with 8.9 million views. Its total now stands at a staggering 111 million views, raising the question of whether it can become one of Netflix’s all-time most popular titles.
