Possible Enhancements: Increased Battery Capacity, Wi-Fi 7 Compatibility, and More Expected in Google’s Pixel 8 Lineup

Google’s highly anticipated Pixel 8 series is rumored to feature improved battery support. Recently leaked specifications offer insights into what to expect from these upcoming devices.

An undisclosed source within Google has shared some new information about the Pixel 8 series. The leaks primarily revolve around the battery capacity and charging capabilities of both the Pixel 8 and the higher-end Pixel 8 Pro.

According to the leaks, the Pixel 8 is expected to have a battery capacity of 4,485 mAh, a slight increase from the Pixel 7’s 4,270 mAh battery. Similarly, the Pixel 8 Pro is rumored to support a 4,950 mAh battery, which is a bump up from the Pixel 7 Pro’s 4,926 mAh.

Furthermore, the wired charging speed for both devices seems to have been upgraded. The Pixel 8 is said to support 24W charging, while the Pixel 8 Pro will offer 27W charging. This is an improvement from the 20W and 23W charging speeds of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, respectively. However, wireless charging capabilities are expected to remain the same, with Google continuing to support 20W and 23W for the base series and Pro level of the Pixel 8.

In addition, the leaks suggest that both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will support Wi-Fi 7, thanks to a new chipset called BCM4398. Wi-Fi 7 provides faster speeds, improved reliability, and lower latency. Currently, Pixel devices support Wi-Fi 6E, which is the standard for most commercial products and smart devices.

Lastly, the leaks reveal that Ultra-wideband (UWB) support will once again be exclusive to the Pro model of the Pixel series. UWB is a wireless technology used for location tracking and finding misplaced devices. It appears that Google is also developing its own competitor to Apple’s AirTag, which will utilize UWB.

Along with these advancements, Google’s upcoming devices are expected to deliver better low-light photography capabilities, thanks to a new primary sensor.

The Pixel 8 series is scheduled to launch later this year. As we approach the launch date, it is likely that more leaks will emerge, providing further insights into Google’s highly anticipated devices.
