Xbox Series S India Price Hiked Again, Now Rs. 39,990: Report

There are reports of a price increase for Xbox Series S consoles in India. According to games analyst Rishi Alwani, the new-gen gaming console from Microsoft will now be priced at Rs. 39,990, and pre-orders will start on January 10. This marks a 5 percent increase from the previous price of Rs. 37,990 in August. This is the third price hike in six months, which can be attributed to the weakening Indian Rupee (INR) against the US Dollar (USD). We have reached out to Microsoft India for comment and will provide an update once we receive it. The original launch price of the Xbox Series S in 2020 was Rs. 34,990.

Currently, both Amazon and Flipkart are offering the Xbox Series S consoles at a lower price. Amazon is selling it for Rs. 31,799 after applying a discount, and the e2z store has listed it for an even cheaper price of Rs. 24,999. If you’re interested, it’s advisable to make a purchase before the price is updated. The new price of Rs. 39,990 may seem a bit excessive, especially considering that you can get a Gilded Hunter Bundle of the Series S at the same price from the e2z store, which includes cosmetics and virtual currency for popular games like Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys.

In November, Microsoft also raised the prices for its flagship Xbox Series X console, which is currently priced at Rs. 55,990 and available on Amazon India and Flipkart. Additionally, the prices of multiple Xbox wireless controllers were increased. The Robot White and Carbon Black variants went up from Rs. 5,690 to Rs. 5,990, while the Electric Volt variant is now priced at Rs. 6,590, compared to its previous price of Rs. 6,290.

During the same time, Sony also increased the prices of its PS5 console in India. The standalone PS5 Digital Edition now costs Rs. 44,990, while the 4K Blu-ray-equipped PS5 is priced at Rs. 54,900. These prices represent a 10 and 12.5 percent increase from their launch prices of Rs. 39,900 and Rs. 49,900, respectively. It’s worth noting that India isn’t the only market where prices have increased, as the company raised the prices of its gaming console in several other regions back in August.
