Outage reported worldwide
There were hundreds of thousands of reports across the US and UK that WhatsApp was down.
Nearly 3,500 users in India were also reporting outages and 7,000 in Brazil struggled to access the app, according to Downdetector.
WhatsApp acknowledged the outage on X, formerly Twitter, and is working to find a solution.
‘Major disruptions’ with WhatsApp
According to Meta Status, there still appear to be major disruptions with WhatsApp Business API.
There are also disruptions with Messenger API for Instagram and the Messenger Platform.
All other Meta apps and functions appear to either have resolved issues or no known problems.
Users wonder why WhatsApp posted on X
Users are pointing out the irony of WhatsApp informing the public of an outage on X, formerly Twitter.
WhatsApp is a part of Meta, which is a direct competitor of X.
“X is where you inform your members [laughing emojis],” one responded to the post. WhatsApp has to announce the news from X seriously Proud to use X,” another added.
“Oh the irony,” a reply read.
Meta down
There is an apparent outage with the entirety of Meta as users report issues with Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp.
Over 4,000 users were struggling to access Instagram, while 1,500 reported problems with Facebook.
