Vodafone Idea Q1 2023: Operational highlights

Vodafone added approximately 1,000 4G sites during the quarter and expanded its LTE 900 presence in 14 circles across multiple locations. The company proudly claims to have a 4G network that covers over 1 billion Indians.
Additionally, Vodafone revealed that it is currently in discussions with various network vendors to finalize its strategy for 5G rollout. The company has already completed device testing of all major OEMs on its 5G network and maintains the highest-rated voice quality in the country based on TRAI’s ‘MyCall’ App data for 28 out of 32 months from November 2020 to June 2023.

Vodafone also noted that its 4G subscriber base has continued to grow for the eighth consecutive quarter, reaching 122.9 million. However, the overall subscriber base declined to 221.4 million from 225.9 million in Q4FY23.
The Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) of the telco has improved to Rs 139, a 2.9% QoQ increase compared to Rs 135 in Q4FY23, mainly due to the migration of subscribers to higher ARPU plans.
Moreover, the company has observed high data usage per broadband customer, averaging around 15.7 GB per month. The total data traffic for the quarter has shown a QoQ growth of 3.5%. To cater to customer needs, Vodafone has launched a night data pack called ‘Chhota Hero,’ providing unlimited data access for content consumption during the night.
