Verizon Adds 151,000 5G Home Internet Customers In the 1st Quarter of 2024 as Cord Cutting 2.0 Grows Hitting Comcast & Spectrum Hard

Have you been thinking about switching your internet service over to Verizon’s 5G Home Internet service? It seems you are not alone, as Verizon reported that it added 151,000 5G home internet customers in the first three months of 2024. This brings its total number of 5G Home Internet customers to over 3.4 million.

Revenue from 5G Home Internet was $452, up $197 million from the same period in 2023.

“Our strong results show that our team is delivering. Our performance in the first quarter sets us up for a successful 2024,” said Verizon Chairman and CEO Hans Vestberg. “We are on track to meet our financial guidance and to deliver positive Consumer postpaid phone net adds for the year. Our fixed wireless subscriber base is continuing to grow rapidly, and our network remains the best in the industry, by far.”

Verizon is getting help from the growing trend of cord cutting 2.0 that sees Americans ditch cable internet for new options just like they ditched cable TV with cord cutting 1.0. This comes as Comcast and Spectrum both lost internet customers in their most recent reports.

Here is everything you need to know about Verizon’s 5G Home internet service:

The Two Plans

With Verizon’s 5G Home Internet, you get to pick from two options. Both plans offer the same speeds, but there are some differences in the bonus you can get.

Verizon’s 5G Home starts at $35, offers a Wi-Fi 6 router, and comes with a 2-year price guarantee.

Verizon’s 5G Home Plus starts at $45, offers a Wi-Fi 6 router, and comes with a 3-year price guarantee along with Verizon’s unlimited cloud backup.

Price

Verizon’s 5G Home Internet starts at $35 a month for the basic plan and $45 a month for the Plus plan. The catch is you need a Verizon Wireless 5G Do More, 5G Play More, 5G Get More, and One Unlimited plan to get that price. Without a Verizon Wireless plan, the prices start at $60 a month with autopay.

There is no equipment fee, and depending on whether you pick the 5G Home or 5G Home Plus plan, your price is guaranteed for 2 to 3 years.

Help Switching Services

Verizon is offering up to $500 to help cover any early termination fees when switching.
