Valheim introduces new difficulty options that allow players to adjust the challenge.
According to Iron Gate Studio, the developer of the game, easy mode provides a more relaxed experience suited for pacifists and builders, while hard mode offers a hardcore playthrough for those seeking a greater challenge.
Alternatively, players can customize server modifiers to create a unique combination of difficulty settings.
This update, Patch 0.217.4 – Hildir’s Request, is currently available on the public test server. It not only introduces difficulty options but also includes new NPC Hildir the merchant, additional locations, two crafting extensions, new items, and more hair and beard styles.
In addition, players can enjoy a new quick-stack button, various visual enhancements, and the ability to showcase fancy hair and beard styles even while wearing a helmet.
Valheim is an early-access survival game that has garnered immense popularity on Steam. Within just 19 days of its launch, the game reached over 500,000 concurrent players. It currently boasts four million players and an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating based on 350,000 user reviews.
In our feature, “Why you should be playing Valheim,” we highlighted the game’s unconventional success on Steam’s most-played list. Despite not having the polished graphics or combat mechanics of its esports counterparts, Valheim captivates players with its stunning retro aesthetics and addicting Dark Souls-inspired combat.
Valheim is available on PC and Xbox, and it can be played at no additional cost on PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass.
