In Diablo IV, balancing combat benefits and character aesthetics can be tough due to the abundance of gear that comes with different properties and appearances. But with the game’s user-friendly transmog system, you no longer have to choose between practicality and style.
To unlock and utilize the transmog system, all you need to do is complete the initial story quests in the Fractured Peaks area and reach Kyovashad. There, you will find the Wardrobe next to your stash, which allows you to choose an appearance for all your equipped items, remove their appearance for a “bare” look, and save customized looks in different slots. While a single slot is available for free, additional slots must be unlocked using Gold.
At first, only the Default and Unequipped Look options will be available, but salvaging items by any blacksmith will unlock new looks for gear. You can tell if an item will unlock a new Wardrobe option when salvaged by a small icon on the item while in the Salvage menu. Salvaging items also provides materials that can be used to upgrade other gear, making it a smart move to often salvage items you do not need. Doing this will expand your cosmetic and gameplay options in Diablo IV while allowing you to find the perfect balance between style and functionality.
