This is the date when the iPhone 15 line will go on sale says a well-connected journalist

For those eagerly anticipating the debut of the iPhone 15 series and the release of Apple’s 2023 handsets, we have some exciting news. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, in his recent Power On newsletter, shared some insider information on when these events might take place. Gurman suggests that Apple will likely unveil the new iteration of the iPhone on September 12th or 13th, with the device set to go on sale on September 22nd. If we consider historical patterns, pre-orders could start on September 15th.
Interestingly, September 13th, one of the dates mentioned by Gurman, also happens to be the day when several wireless carriers have instructed their employees not to take sick leave. This could indicate that wireless providers are preparing for a surge in customer inquiries following the iPhone announcement. Betting on the 13th as the announcement day seems reasonable, given these observations.
Now, mark your calendars: the big announcement, including the unveiling of the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2, is expected to happen on either September 12th or 13th. Pre-orders may commence on September 15th, and the new phones will hit the market on September 22nd. However, please note that these dates are still rumors. Nevertheless, feel free to use a pencil with an eraser to make your calendar notes.
The upcoming iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are anticipated to introduce significant enhancements this year. These include the introduction of the Dynamic Island, 48MP stacked sensors for the Wide main camera, utilizing the 4nm (essentially an enhanced 5nm) A16 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 14 Pro models, and larger batteries to power the devices.
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models will undergo significant changes, such as featuring a new titanium chassis. However, the most noteworthy transformation will be the adoption of the all-new A17 Bionic SoC, manufactured using TSMC’s N3B 3nm process node. This should result in a substantial increase in the number of transistors compared to the A16 Bionic’s 16 billion. Generally, more transistors indicate improved performance and energy efficiency.
The iPhone 15 Pro models will also receive an upgrade in RAM to 8GB from 6GB (while the non-Pro models will maintain 6GB) and a notable increase in battery capacity. Additionally, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will become the first iPhone to incorporate a periscope lens, enabling advanced optical zoom capabilities of 5x-6x compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s 3x zoom. However, it’s worth mentioning that we might see a price increase, with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max possibly priced $100 and $200 higher, respectively.

All four phones will feature a USB-C port, replacing the proprietary Lightning port. Notably, the iPhone 15 Pro models will offer faster data transfer speeds compared to the non-Pro models.

Now is the time to strategize. Which model are you interested in? What configuration suits your needs best? Of course, some of the crucial decisions regarding deals and promotions will only become clear once the new phones are officially announced.
