There are Reports of Leaked Footage for Persona 3 Remake and Jet Set Radio Reboot Online

Gameplay footage of what appears to be a full-fledged Persona 3 remake and the highly anticipated next installment of the Jet Set Radio series has reportedly surfaced online. These leaks are said to originate from an internal meeting held at SEGA Japan in 2021. The leaked video consists of a five-second clip showcasing Persona 3’s protagonist, Yukari Takeba, unleashing a flurry of arrows at an airborne Shadow. The clip then seamlessly transitions into a cinematic for Sonic Frontiers, scheduled for release in 2022. Additionally, a brief glimpse is provided of a character resembling Beat from Jet Set Radio dancing through the lively streets of Shibuya, Tokyo. Although some Persona fans remain skeptical, dismissing the footage as fan-made, rumors surrounding a Persona 3 remake have persisted for years.

According to a ResetEra thread from January, developer Atlus is reportedly well into the development of the next highly anticipated installment, Persona 6, alongside their efforts to remake Persona 3. A leaker known as ‘Im a Hero Too’ suggests that both games are scheduled for an American ‘summer reveal,’ which could occur anytime between June and August. The leaker also claims that a teaser for Persona 6 was initially planned to have been unveiled by now.

Gematsu has lent credibility to these claims, affirming that Atlus has been actively working on a remake of Persona 3 for an extended period. While it’s important to approach these leaks with caution, a remake seems plausible considering the game’s aging graphics and mechanics. Persona 3 Portable was recently released for PC and modern consoles in January, but it lacked several features. This may explain Atlus’ desire to release a full-blown remake that offers a significantly different experience and serves as a worthy upgrade.

In the wake of the leaked footage, the Sega news site SEGAbits has shared blurry images of the upcoming Jet Set Radio game. The user who shared these images claims to have previously received them through a consumer survey aimed at gauging the game’s art style. Although the images cannot be fully appreciated due to watermarking, the silhouettes and color scheme align with the leaked information. SEGAbits has refrained from outright leaking and spoiling information out of respect for their relationship with SEGA. However, now that the information has already been leaked by others, they have decided to provide additional details. It was previously reported that the new Jet Set Radio game would be part of Sega’s ‘Super Game’ initiative, alongside a new Crazy Taxi game.

Further evidence supporting the Persona 3 remake comes in the form of a domain registration for a website named p3re.jp on March 15. This discovery was made by Twitter user @MbKKssTBhz5, who noticed that the domain was registered by the same provider as Persona 5 Royal’s website. In Persona 3, players assume the role of a high school student who investigates the Dark Hour, a mysterious time period that occurs between one day and the next. Like other entries in the Persona series, the game involves engaging in battles against Shadows, malevolent entities that consume the minds of innocent individuals.

A portable version of Persona 3 was released earlier this year for various platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch.
