The PC Port of The Last of Us Part I Faces Three-Week Delay, Set to Launch on March 28

Naughty Dog has announced that the PC port of The Last of Us Part I will be delayed by three weeks. Originally scheduled to release on March 3, the highly anticipated emotional, zombie-survival game will now make its debut on March 28. According to the developer, this delay will allow them to ensure a polished and bug-free experience for players. The decision was partly influenced by the success of HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us, as Naughty Dog is committed to maintaining their reputation by delivering a port that meets their high standards.

In an open letter, Naughty Dog expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support received for The Last of Us. They mentioned being thrilled by the love for the HBO series, the stunning Photo Mode shots shared by players, and the way their game continues to captivate both old and new fans. With the goal of meeting the expectations of their dedicated community, Naughty Dog wants to ensure that the PC release of The Last of Us Part 1 is impeccable. The additional weeks will be used to refine the game and guarantee that it lives up to the standards of both the players and the developer.

While the developer hasn’t disclosed the system requirements or PC-specific features yet, previous PlayStation-to-PC ports suggest that players can anticipate features such as unlocked framerates, support for ultra-wide monitors, and other technical enhancements tailored to different graphics cards. The core story of the game remains unchanged, following the journey of Joel, a hardened survivor, as he escorts Ellie, a teenager, through a post-pandemic United States infested with infected mutants. Their emotional growth and bond as a father and daughter figure provide a glimmer of hope in a dark world.

During the marketing campaign for the PS5 launch, Sony emphasized that The Last of Us Part I was a fully remade version of the original game. However, some fans found the price tag of Rs. 4,999/$70 to be high, considering they had already experienced the previous versions. Now, there are three variants available – the original 2013 Last of Us, the PS4 remaster, and the remake. Naughty Dog improved the visuals and introduced AI upgrades to make enemy behavior more akin to the critically acclaimed sequel, The Last of Us Part II. Additionally, a permadeath mode and over 60 accessibility features were implemented to cater to players with visual, auditory, or motor challenges.

To commemorate the debut of the HBO series, The Last of Us Part I was offered as a two-hour free trial to PS Plus Deluxe/Premium members. This allowed players to try the game and make an informed decision about whether the upgrades justify the full price. The Last of Us series has been renewed for a second season by HBO, which will cover the events of The Last of Us Part II.

The release date for The Last of Us Part I on PC is now set for March 28. Pre-orders are currently available on Steam and the Epic Games Store for Rs. 3,999.
