The Middle East’s Tension Fails to Revive ‘The Flash’ in Box Office

The hype and excitement surrounding The Flash has taken a sudden nosedive, leaving it poised to become one of the biggest box office failures in history. Previously touted as one of the greatest comic book adaptations ever, the film’s domestic performance has been plummeting since its opening weekend. While attention has been focused on its decline in the United States, its overseas performance is also worth noting. Egyptian comedy Beit El Ruby has now surpassed The Flash in the Saudi Arabian rankings.

Comparing the ticket sales, it’s clear that The Flash is far behind, with only 91,000 tickets sold since its premiere, while Beit El Ruby sold 71,000 tickets in its first frame alone. Although it’s not surprising to see a struggling blockbuster dethroned so easily, it’s worth considering the strained relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, both historically and recently. Additionally, Saudi Arabia’s position as the largest cinema market in the Middle East and the growing popularity of Egyptian films among local audiences contribute to The Flash‘s lackluster performance.

As the number of countries where The Flash dominates the box office continues to decline, Warner Bros. is facing a financial disaster.
