After a long wait, Overwatch fans will finally get to experience the story mode promised in Overwatch 2. The new expansion, titled “Invasion,” is set to release on August 10th.
Blizzard Entertainment recently unveiled new details about Overwatch 2: Invasion, the next expansion for the popular game. The expansion will introduce a variety of exciting changes, with the most notable being the addition of the long-awaited story mode. This mode will take players on a journey as they join the Overwatch crew in their battle against a new threat and their mission to reunite after the events of the first game. In addition to the story mode, the expansion will feature PvE missions, a co-op Event, Hero Mastery mode, a new PvP mode, and a new hero. Overwatch 2: Invasion Story Missions
In the previous installment, “Zero Hour,” we witnessed the invasion of Paris by the rogue Omnic group known as Null Sector. Thanks to the heroic efforts of Winston, Tracer, Mei, and other champions, the city was saved from destruction. However, the war is far from over. Null Sector continues to wreak havoc on cities around the world and has a mysterious agenda involving the kidnapping of Omnics. The new Overwatch team must discover their plans and put an end to their reign of terror. To achieve this, they will need the assistance of old allies and new recruits.
In the upcoming expansion, Overwatch 2: Invasion, players and their friends will embark on three thrilling story missions set in Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Gothenburg. These massive maps offer complex objectives and an immersive storyline to guide players through their mission. They will face off against the relentless forces of Null Sector, who will stop at nothing until they are defeated. Be prepared for formidable enemies such as the powerful Artillery and the deadly Stalkers. The Overwatch 2: Invasion Bundle, priced at $15, grants players:
- Permanent Access To The Three Story Missions
- 1,000 Overwatch Coins (equivalent to the Premium Battle Pass, valued at $10 USD)
- A brand-new Sojourn Legendary skin (valued at $19 USD), and permanent access to Sojourn as a playable hero for new players upon completing Story Mission challenges.
- The Overwatch 2: Invasion bundle is designed to offer both new and veteran players the chance to explore this exciting new story arc while providing additional coins to unlock the Premium Battle Pass or purchase cosmetic content for their favorite Hero.
Players can also upgrade to the Overwatch 2: Ultimate Invasion Bundle for $40 USD, which includes all of the above, plus:
- The Null Sector Premium Battle Pass with 20 Battle Pass skips (valued at $30 USD)
- An additional 1,000 Overwatch Coins, bringing the total to 2,000 Overwatch Coins (valued at $20 USD)
- Two additional Legendary skins for Cassidy and Kiriko (valued at $38 USD)
All New Co-Op Events
In addition to the Story Missions, players will have the opportunity to partake in a bonus co-op mission called “King’s Row – Underworld.” This mission takes place in new areas of the King’s Row map, where players will guide a heavily armed TS-1 push bot on a mission to rescue Iggy and other members of the Omnic Underworld from Null Sector. Prepare for new objectives and familiar, yet challenging, Null Sector enemies.
Elevating the Competition with Flashpoint
Accompanying the release of Overwatch 2: Invasion is Flashpoint, a new PVP core game mode available to all players in Quick Play or Competitive Play. This mode introduces two of the largest PVP maps in Overwatch 2 to date. Teams will compete to control key positions on the map called “flashpoints.” The goal is to capture three flashpoints before the opposing team does. There is no time to rest once a flashpoint is secured, as the next one awaits. Flashpoint will test both mechanical skills and strategic thinking, as preventing opponents from advancing to the next flashpoint is crucial for victory.
A New Path to Mastering Your Skills
Introducing Hero Mastery mode, a new way to play and improve your skills with your favorite heroes. These dynamic training courses are specially curated for each hero, allowing players to test their abilities and refine their techniques. Global leaderboards will showcase the top-performing hero masters from around the world. Overwatch 2: Invasion will launch with the first set of courses for a selection of heroes, with more to come in future updates. Additionally, the Practice Range receives a major update in this season, featuring a brand-new firing range with various settings and targets to assist players in honing their aim with any hero.
