The series handles their love story well, allowing them to imagine a hopeful future together, even though they cannot marry. Although their romance faces difficulties as Reynolds must lie to Brimsley to keep the King’s secret, they manage to work through it.
While the franchise has introduced some gay characters and hinted at others, Queen Charlotte’s Brimsley and Reynolds are the first to receive a meaningful and positive love story. It is a big step for the franchise, and fans can only hope that future seasons will continue to provide a diverse representation of sexual orientations.
