Testing of TikTok Music commences in Australia, Mexico, and Singapore

TikTok has announced the launch of its new music streaming platform called TikTok Music in additional markets, expanding beyond its initial debut in Indonesia and Brazil. The company is inviting select users from Australia, Mexico, and Singapore to participate in a closed beta test, offering a three-month free trial for the TikTok Music service.

Described as a unique music service, TikTok Music combines the power of music discovery on TikTok with a music streaming platform that provides access to millions of tracks from thousands of artists. To join the beta, users can download the TikTok Music app from music.tiktok.com or the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Pricing information for TikTok Music in the new markets is as follows: AUD11.99 ($8.18 USD) per month in Australia, MXN$115 ($6.87 USD) in Mexico, and S$9.90 ($7.47 USD) in Singapore. The service also offers discounted subscriptions for university students and family plans for up to six accounts.

One interesting feature of TikTok Music is its integration with the standard TikTok platform. Users can sync their TikTok Music account with their regular TikTok account, allowing them to listen, share, and download music discovered on the social media platform. Users can also share their favorite TikTok Music tracks and artists with their TikTok community.

TikTok Music offers various features, including the ability to import music libraries, download songs for offline listening, create collaborative playlists, view real-time lyrics, and search for tracks by their lyrics. The service also includes a Shazam-like feature that identifies songs nearby and allows subscribers to leave comments and interact with other users.

While there’s no official launch date for TikTok Music in the US, the company has hinted at “more news to share on the launch” in the coming months. TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, has filed trademark applications for TikTok Music in Australia and the US, indicating their intention to bring the service to the US market.

TikTok has already made a significant impact in the music industry by driving the success of many hit songs and helping users discover new artists through viral trends. As a result, TikTok playlists have emerged on other streaming platforms like Spotify. With its new music streaming service, TikTok aims to directly compete with popular platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. Additionally, TikTok has secured partnerships with major music labels like Sony Music, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group to expand its audio library.
