Switch version of Arkham Trilogy only includes one game on the cartridge

When the Nintendo Direct presentation revealed the Batman: Arkham Trilogy coming to the Nintendo Switch, there was a fair amount of skepticism. And it turns out, that skepticism was justified!

WB has confirmed that although the Arkham Trilogy will be physically sold, the cartridge will only include Batman: Arkham Asylum. That’s right, only one game from the “trilogy” will be on the cartridge, and you’ll have to download the rest. Does the Nintendo Switch physical version of Batman: Arkham Trilogy include all three games on one cartridge?

Batman: Arkham Asylum will be included on the Batman: Arkham Trilogy game cartridge. Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Knight will require an online connection to download and install both titles when the Batman: Arkham Trilogy cartridge is inserted into the Nintendo Switch console. All three games will then be playable as long as the cartridge is inserted into the Nintendo Switch console.

However, the good news is that when the game releases this fall, the download will include “all previously released DLC.”

A Continuation of a Growing Trend

Unfortunately, this situation is part of a larger trend with third-party games on the Nintendo Switch. While The Witcher 3 managed to fit the entire game on a higher-capacity cartridge, many other third-party games, like the Arkham Trilogy, are facing similar issues. In fact, Konami revealed in the same Nintendo Direct presentation that Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1 will also require significant downloads.

If you plan on playing either of these games later this year, it’s time to start clearing up space on your SD card.
