The feature, called “Your Offline Mix,” generates a playlist that users can access when offline. For instance, users might find it challenging to get an internet connection while traveling in remote mountainous regions or being on a flight. The new feature would automatically save a mix of their recently played tracks so that they can stay entertained even when disconnected from the internet.
Spotify CEO, Daniel Ek, shared a screenshot of the feature on Twitter, but he didn’t disclose when it will be available for use. It’s important to note that Spotify previously allowed users to download playlists or albums for offline listening. However, manually selecting what to download for offline use can be an overwhelming task. The new feature will come in handy for users facing such situations.
Reportedly, Spotify has been developing the feature since 2020. They have now made it to market, catching up with platforms like YouTube Music, which has been offering a similar feature called “Offline Mixtape” for some time. YouTube Music downloads frequently listened to music and songs that users have liked, among others, for offline listening.
