Prepare for an exciting new series from Smosh called Sword AF, which will be released later this year in response to overwhelming fan demand for a Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) show.
Today, Smosh, the popular YouTube comedy channel, announced its plans to launch a new series titled Sword AF on its Games channel. This series will be themed around D&D and is a direct result of the success of their previous series, Legacy: Betrayal. Legacy: Betrayal is a continuous board game that incorporates elements of the popular game Betrayal at House on the Hill, but with a twist: choices made by players are permanent. While playing this game, the Smosh crew has injected their signature humor into each episode. To celebrate the series’ success, Smosh has released a “behind-the-scenes” episode, providing an overview of the filming process as well as making the exciting announcement of Sword AF.
According to the limited information provided, Sword AF will feature the same five individuals from Legacy: Betrayal, namely Chanse McCrary, Angela Giarratana, Damien Haas, Shayne Topp, and Amanda Lehan-Canto. While it is not explicitly stated, it is likely that Haas will serve as the Dungeon Master while the other four players assume the roles of characters they have created. They will probably use the 5th Edition ruleset to craft their own unique story within the D&D universe. It remains unclear whether Smosh plans to collaborate with Wizards of the Coast, the creators of Dungeons & Dragons, to make Sword AF an official D&D game or if they will approach it in a similar spirit to other content creators. Nonetheless, it promises to be an entertaining show, with the possibility of occasional guest appearances from other cast members. Although no release date has been confirmed, we anticipate a Fall 2023 premiere.
