San Diego Comic-Con celebrated the 30th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s classic blockbuster by creating an immersive experience. Fans had the opportunity to explore life-sized props and iconic sequences from the movie, purchase new merchandise, and even encounter dinosaurs. Collider’s Perri Nemiroff visited the area and was surrounded by vehicles from the film, transforming San Diego into Isla Nublar temporarily.
The exhibition featured jeeps used by Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) as they navigated the island. Visitors could take pictures with the green tour vehicle and the ranger’s vehicle, allowing them to feel like part of the Jurassic Park crew. Universal Studios brought a unique experience to San Diego Comic-Con, transporting viewers to Isla Nublar for a limited time.
The sets included decorated prop-filled recreations of memorable scenes, such as the Velociraptor attack in the kitchen and the T-Rex attack on Donald Gennaro hiding in a bathroom. The exhibition showcased a variety of dinosaurs, adding an element of danger and allowing audiences to create new memories with a film that has become a significant part of their lives over the past three decades.
Prehistoric Merchandise
At the end of the exhibition, visitors could explore the official Jurassic Park store, offering a wide range of products related to the blockbuster film. Clothing, toys, collectible figures, and customizable license plates were available for purchase, allowing attendees to fully immerse themselves in the prehistoric experience. San Diego, having been featured prominently in The Lost World, another Jurassic Park sequel, once again served as the perfect location for an interactive experience with a roaming T-Rex, making it a memorable addition to the films.
