When the animated Transformers movie, The Transformers: The Movie, hit theaters nearly 40 years ago, it surprised audiences with its depth and emotional storytelling. Now, after all this time, a new animated film, Transformers One, is in the works, focusing on the origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron and their falling out on Cybertron. Scarlett Johansson, who plays Elita in the film, has praised its depth and heart.

Johansson spoke highly of writer-director Josh Cooley and the unique animation work done by Industrial Light and Magic. Transformers One is set to kick off a potential trilogy, with a release date of September 13, 2024. Alongside the excitement for Transformers One, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is also generating anticipation as the conclusion of its own star-studded trilogy. Jason Schwartzman, who plays The Spot in both films, expressed his enthusiasm for the projects.

While Schwartzman couldn’t reveal much about Beyond the Spider-Verse, he hinted at a bigger and badder role for The Spot. The character starts off as a relatively weak threat but grows in power as the story progresses. Schwartzman is excited to see how his villain evolves in the third film and is thrilled to be part of a one big story that allows for in-depth character development.
