The Mankey line expands with Annihilape, an evolution of Primeape from the Paldea region in Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet base set.
The Scarlet & Violet era of the Pokémon TCG has commenced. With the conclusion of Sword & Shield, the Scarlet & Violet era began in March 2023, focusing on the ninth generation of Pokémon games and the new Paldea region. It all started with the Scarlet & Violet base set, which was officially released in the United States on March 31st, 2023. This set brought about significant and enduring changes to the hobby. The card borders now feature a silver hue, matching the Japanese releases. Additionally, each pack now guarantees at least one holo-rare and two reverse holos. The key mechanic of this era is lowercase ex, showcasing a double holographic pattern with a horizontal shine and a starry sparkle. Full Art exs now include a green, foil outline around the Pokémon. The Secret Rare section of future expansions features Full Arts, Illustration Rares, Special Illustration Rare exs, Full Art Trainers, Special Illustration Rare Trainers, and Gold Hyper Rares. In this edition of the Scarlet & Violet base set spotlight, we will explore the newly updated Mankey line, with the addition of Annihilape, an evolved form of Primeape.
Scarlet & Violet presents the updated Mankey line, featuring an impressive illustration of Mankey by nagimiso. This Fighting-type Pokémon is depicted running full speed towards us, ready to unleash its power. Primeape, the evolution of Mankey, is also showcased in a similar pose by Ryuta Fuse, capturing it in the midst of throwing a punch. Finally, after more than a quarter century, we have the new evolution, Annihilape, represented by a holographic rare card brilliantly illustrated by Anesaki Dynamic.
