Sasha Calle Holds Meeting with Peter Safran to Discuss the Future of Supergirl in the DC Universe (DCU)

Despite its struggles at the box office, “The Flash,” Sasha Calle has already met with DC Studios co-head Peter Safran to discuss her potential future as DCU’s Supergirl. In an interview with USA Today, Calle expressed her interest in returning to the role in upcoming DCU projects.

In “The Flash,” Barry Allen (played by Ezra Miller) travels back in time to save his mother from being murdered. However, his actions have unintended consequences, leading to a version of Earth where the Justice League does not exist and the planet is vulnerable to General Zod (played by Michael Shannon) and other Kryptonian foes. Fortunately, Barry finds allies in Michael Keaton’s Batman and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl.

“The Flash” serves as a reboot for the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) and sets the stage for new storylines developed by Peter Safran and James Gunn. While it bids farewell to the previous DCEU, the movie’s exploration of the Multiverse allows for the potential return of certain cast members and characters. Calle recently met with Safran to discuss the future of her Supergirl character, expressing her love and deep connection to the role.

Sasha Calle has the potential to be a great addition to the DCU as Supergirl. Despite setbacks and changes during production, “The Flash” ultimately paved the way for a reset of the DCU timeline under the guidance of Safran and Gunn. Although the original ending that introduced Calle’s Supergirl was cut, it would be fantastic to see her included in the new DCU considering her standout performance in “The Flash.”

There are plans for a “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” movie in the new DCU, adapting Tom King’s beloved run. While casting has not yet begun for this project, scheduled for release around 2027, it would be fitting for Calle to continue portraying the character, given her previous success in bringing Supergirl to life.

“The Flash” is currently playing in theaters. For more on Sasha Calle’s portrayal of Supergirl, check out our latest interview below.
