Samsung urges users to switch on three hidden ‘automated’ performance settings that make your phone faster every day

SAMSUNG has revealed three settings that can automatically boost your phone’s performance.

If you’ve had your Samsung Galaxy phone for a while and you’ve noticed a performance drop, there’s an easy fix to try.

It’s all part of Samsung’s Device Care settings, which are aimed at keeping your smartphone in tip-top shape.

The settings are available for free of charge in recent Samsung phone models, so it’s worth checking them out.

“Your Galaxy smartphone comes with a built-in feature called Device Care which gives you all the tools you need to keep your device running smoothly and optimise your smartphones performance,” Samsung explains.

“Not only does it provide quick access to check your device’s battery, storage, memory and security, it can also run automatic optimisation checks on your phone for faster, better performance.”

There are many manual settings to try out, but several of them can be automated.

This saves you plenty of hassle once they’re set up, allowing your Samsung phone to maximize its performance in the background.

HOW TO AUTOMATICALLY OPTIMIZE SAMSUNG PHONES

First you’ll want to go into Settings > Device Care.

Then tap on More Options > Advanced, and you’ll find a list of features that you can automate.

The first setting is Auto Optimization.

This automatically runs your Samsung phone’s optimization tool once a day.

You can also manually optimize whenever you like in your Device Care settings.

The second setting is Auto Restart, which will automatically switch your Samsung on and off again at the time that you set.

And third up is Optimize Settings.

Samsung explains: “Activate to save battery by optimising your settings when you’re not using your phone.”

You can also use this page to turn on pop-up notifications for these settings.

ONE MORE TIP

One other option worth looking at is your phone’s memory (not to be confused with storage, which is where all of your main files are kept).

Samsung – a brief history

Here’s what you need to know…

  • Samsung is a major South Korean company made up of many businesses that operate globally
  • It’s known locally as a “chaebol”, which means “business conglomerate”
  • It was founded by Lee Byung-chul in 1938 as a trading company
  • But over several decades, it branched out into food processing, insurance, textiles and retail
  • It wasn’t until the late 1960s when Samsung entered the electronics industry – for which it’s best known in the West today
  • It also launched businesses in construction and shipbuilding in the 1970s
  • Today, Samsung’s most important sources of income are its smartphones and computer chips
  • The firm accounts for around a fifth of South Korea’s total exports, and roughly 17% of the country’s GDP
  • More than 270,000 staff are employed by Samsung globally
  • And in 2023, Samsung Electronics turned over the equivalent of $194 billion in revenue

“Memory lets your device load information quickly,” said Samsung.

“If you have noticed that your device has slowed down or if your apps or games don’t function as they should, free up memory by closing background apps to improve performance.”

Just go to Settings > Device Care > Memory.

Then you can exclude any apps from the “cleaning cycle” and tap Clean Now.
