Release of Stray Gods Pushed Back to Avoid Overlapping with Baldur’s Gate 3’s PC Debut

Summerfall Studios has made the decision to delay the release of Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical to August 10. The reason behind this decision is to avoid launching on the same day as Baldur’s Gate 3 on PC.

In a statement on Twitter, Summerfall Studios expressed their desire for everyone to have enough time to explore Stray Gods upon its release. They recognized the high anticipation surrounding Baldur’s Gate 3 and wanted to ensure that their fans had the space to celebrate Stray Gods as well.

The studio further explained that they wanted to accommodate players across different platforms. As an indie studio launching their first title, they acknowledged the challenges involved and aimed to deliver a consistent gaming experience. The extra week allows them to achieve performance parity as closely as possible on every platform.

Initially, Stray Gods appeared to be free from any conflict with Larian’s RPG. It was originally scheduled to launch on August 3 for PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. However, in June, Larian Studios announced an earlier release date for Baldur’s Gate 3 on PC, coinciding with August 3, while the PS5 version would still be released on September 6.
