The animated feature, which boasts a faithful adaptation of the massively popular Super Mario and Super Mario Bros. franchises and brings to life some of the most iconic video game characters of all time, has garnered worldwide box office success. Produced by Nintendo, Universal, and Illumination, the movie is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. Voice actors on the ensemble cast include Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Keegan-Michael Key, and Jack Black, among others.
The movie tells the origin story of Mario and Luigi, the plumber brothers who get transported to the magical Mushroom Kingdom through a mysterious pipe. Movie, which followed the catastrophic failure of the 1993 Super Mario Bros. movie adaptation, has already taken in an impressive $1.3 billion in global box office revenue.

After the success of the film, it is gearing up for home entertainment release. The digital download version was released on May 16, 2023, and the DVD and Blu-Ray editions are set to hit the shelves on June 13, 2023. It became the highest-grossing video game adaptation ever and also became the first video game movie to gross over $1 billion worldwide in just one week of release.
