Ranked: All Cryro Characters in Genshin Impact

Cryo has always been a reliable and impactful element in Genshin Impact since the game’s release. It offers the ability to immobilize opponents with Freeze and has the potential to greatly increase Crit Rate through Cryo Resonance and the Blizzard Strayer artifact set. This combination can result in a total of 55% free Crit Rate, making it easy to build powerful Cryo characters.

However, with the increasing number of Cryo characters in the game, it begs the question: who is the ultimate ice queen of Genshin Impact? While all Cryo characters have their strengths, some are more impressive than others. It’s important to note that even the lower-ranked characters on this list are still strong and shouldn’t be considered weak. Ultimately, it’s recommended to prioritize playing characters you enjoy rather than solely focusing on the Meta.

Let’s take a closer look at the ranking of Cryo characters in Genshin Impact:

12. Aloy: Aloy is a guest star from the Horizon franchise and while she may have a special place in the hearts of Horizon fans, she is not particularly strong as a Genshin unit. Her abilities revolve around dropping Cryo mines and infusing her normal attacks with Cryo, but it can be difficult to consistently maximize the effectiveness of her Elemental Skill. Additionally, her Elemental Burst lacks the damage and utility compared to other Cryo units.

11. Qiqi: Qiqi, a standard 5-star character, is known for her healing abilities. Her Elemental Skill periodically heals the active character’s HP and applies Cryo to nearby enemies. While she excels in healing, her energy generation is low and her Cryo application is slow. Comparatively, other healers like Kokomi or Bennett offer more versatility and support to the team.

10. Kaeya: As one of the free starter characters, Kaeya is one of the strongest options provided in Genshin Impact. His Elemental Skill deals with a cone blast of Cryo Damage and, with the right build, he can be a great Cryo battery character. His low-cost Elemental Burst creates icicles that deal Cryo damage to opponents, making him a good choice for off-field Cryo application. Obtaining Kaeya constellations can be challenging, as starter characters are not typically featured in banners.

9. Mika: Mika, also known as the Front-Line Surveyor, excels in Physical DPS teams. His Elemental Skill deals Cryo damage and increases character ATK Speed. Additionally, each hit from his Elemental Skill will build up “Detector” stacks, increasing Physical damage. Mika’s Elemental Burst allows for healing on Normal attacks, scaling off his HP. With his constellations, Mika becomes even more powerful, making him a great choice for Physical DPS teams. However, Physical DPS teams are not commonly played, making Mika a niche character.

8. Chongyun: Chongyun, the young exorcist, is a strong character but doesn’t offer much to most teams aside from Elemental Burst damage. His Elemental Skill infuses Sword, Claymore, or Polearm characters with Cryo, allowing them to trigger reactions like melt. However, many characters can apply Cryo by themselves, and Anemo units can shred opponents’ Cryo resistance better than Chongyun. While his Elemental Burst deals damage, his overall kit doesn’t provide substantial value to a team.

7. Layla: Layla, a sleepy astrology student, offers great survivability through her strong shields and Cryo application. Her Elemental Skill creates a shield based on her max HP and generates Night Stars, which deal Cryo damage to opponents. Her Elemental Burst has a large AoE and functions similarly to Lisa’s abilities. While Layla is a solid choice for shielding and Cryo application, she doesn’t provide much else to the team compared to other Cryo support units.

6. Eula: Eula is a powerful character but caters more towards Physical DPS teams, which is a niche play style. Players must alternate between the tap-and-hold versions of her Elemental Skill to build Grimheart stacks and use them for her Ascension 1 passive, Roiling Rime. Her Elemental Burst deals Cryo damage and enters a 7-second state where players must maximize her Normal and Elemental attacks.

Overall, each Cryo character in Genshin Impact brings their own strengths and playstyles to the game. While some may excel in certain areas, it’s essential to consider team composition and personal playstyle when choosing which Cryo character to prioritize.
