PlayStation 5 Restock in India: Pre-Orders for PS5 to Begin on February 22

Sony is preparing for another PS5 restock in India this month, with pre-orders scheduled to go live on Wednesday, February 22 at 12pm. Both bundles and standalone units of the 4K Bluray disc drive-equipped versions will be available for pre-booking. This is the second restock this month, which is a rare occurrence since the PS5 launch in India. The global chip shortage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult to acquire a PS5, but the situation seems to be improving.

During CES 2023, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan announced that finding a PS5 from local retailers would be much easier. This has proven true in the Indian market, with brick-and-mortar stores and events like the Mumbai Comic-Con having sufficient stock for purchase, including consoles and accessories. There is even a dedicated PS5 booth at the India Gaming Show, which is currently taking place and features Riot Games, the makers of popular games like League of Legends and Valorant. The event runs until February 18 in New Delhi.

As for the February 22 restock, pre-order banners and advertisements are not yet available on online storefronts, but a press release confirms that the new stock of PS5s will be available for pre-order on various platforms including Amazon, Croma, Flipkart, GamesTheShop, Reliance Digital, ShopatSC, and Vijay Sales.

In November, the prices of PS5s increased, with the disc variant costing Rs. 54,990 and the Digital Edition priced at Rs. 44,990. This marked a 12.5% and 10% increase, respectively. Sony attributed the price hike in select markets, including Asia-Pacific, to the global economic environment and high inflation rates, as stated in a blog post in August last year.

Currently, the Sony Center PS5 store page allows users to enter their contact details to be notified of the availability of stocks. The delivery details from the last restock have not been updated, which stated that orders should start shipping out by February 21. It also mentions possible delays depending on lockdown or curfew restrictions in certain regions. Purchase options were limited recently, but earlier this month, Sony India offered two alternatives—a God of War Ragnarök bundle priced at Rs. 59,390 and a standalone disc-drive-equipped unit for Rs. 54,990.
