Other World Computing Shows Off Four New Storage Products At NAB 2024

It’s that time of year again when all the best tech brands converge on Las Vegas for the NAB Show. From April 13 to 17, big names that provide the technology to keep Hollywood creating will show off their wares for the professionals in the film industry.

One of the names attending this year is Other World Computing, probably best known for its range of Mac-friendly accessories and digital storage solutions. This year OWC is showing off four new products at NAB and they are sure to appeal to creatives if they drop by Booth 2024 in the Central Hall.

First up are the high-performance VPG200-certified Atlas Pro CFexpress 4.0 Type A memory cards. Now available in 480GB and 960GB capacities, these memory cards are designed to meet the demands of video and photography professionals who shoot with Sony Alpha and FR7 cameras.

With real-world 1850MB/s read and 1700MB/s write speeds (with USB4) and VPG200 certification to work with all Sony camera models, the Atlas Pro CFexpress 4.0 Type A cards are specifically aimed at professional filmmakers or extreme action photographers who want the maximum performance that their Sony cameras are capable of offering, such as 8K video, Pro-slow motion or Pro-high resolution burst RAW photography.

OWC maintains that the cards offer consistent performance that enables them to capture high-volume, high-bitrate shots without delay or bottlenecking. The cards are ideal for data-intensive tasks, including transferring large files when ingesting footage into a computer and suit professional workflows that need the fastest data access.

OWC claims its Atlas Pro CFexpress 4.0 Type A cards are tested at the most aggressive camera settings to ensure reliability and high performance. OWC says the cards can reduce ingestion time by a factor of two compared with CFexpress 2.0 cards and include a Type A-to-Type B adapter.

OWC’s Innergize software is integral to using Atlas memory cards and card readers. The Innergize app checks the health of the cards and ensures they are reliable and ready for shooting. Innergize also cleans and restores a card’s performance to ensure no dropped frames when shooting video or continuous bursts of photos. Atlas owners can upgrade their firmware in the field to take advantage of any new improvements from OWC.

Pricing & Availability: The Atlas Pro CFexpress 4.0 Type A cards are available for pre-order and will ship in May on Macsales.com at $319.99 for 480GB and $519.99 for 960GB. Atlas CFexpress Type B readers are also available at a starting price of $79.99.

The next product to be unveiled at NAB is the OWC Envoy SSD. This portable SSD is made from aircraft-grade aluminum and fits in the palm of a hand. With consistent and sustained speeds of up to 1,000MB/s, the Envoy doesn’t suffer from thermal throttling and ships with its own high-speed USB-C cable.

OWC describes the Envoy SSD as the perfect drive for storing, saving, backing up and even editing large files. It’s small enough to be portable but fast enough to work with laptops and workstations.

Pricing & Availability: The all-new Envoy SSD is now available for pre-order and will ship in May from macsales.com for $149.99 at 1TB and $279.99 at 2TB.

The Envoy Pro Elektron SSD is also being launched at NAB with a new 4TB capacity. This SSD is rugged, crushproof, dustproof and waterproof with an IP67 rating, but it’s small enough to slip into a pocket.

This newly announced 4TB capacity makes the Envoy Pro Elektron ideal for content creators who need high performance and high capacity. The SSD can be used to save, edit and back up large-format video files, lossless audio and vast amounts of RAW image files at 1,011MB/s real-world performance.

Pricing & Availability: The Envoy Pro Elektron is available in capacities up to 4TB from macsales.com and costs $579.99.

Finally, the OWC Envoy Pro Mini is a pocket-sized USB drive that offers both high performance and high capacity. Available for the first time in a 2TB capacity, the Envoy Pro Mini is no larger than a keychain charm.

The new 2TB capacity will suit content creators who always like to have their showreels or portfolio close at hand. The USB-A and USB-C connectors offer a choice of capture devices which means the Envoy Pro Mini can always be there to back up freshly created content.

Pricing & Availability: The Envoy Pro Mini is now available for purchase in capacities up to 2TB from macsales.com for $299.99.
